Up at 4am. Gave him some water. Rocked him. Put him down. He babbled for a bit and then started to fuss around 4:30. I told myself to give him 10 minutes. He was quiet after 6. But then started up again. He was finally asleep by 4:50 and I waited until 5:10 to tiptoe back in to cover him up. It took me forever to get back to sleep, but we both slept until 7. I dosed until almost 7:40, then changed and nursed him. We had breakfast and then he started playing.
Put the TV on for him and went to put the diapers in the wash. Came back, did some computing. Looked over to see him sitting on the hope chest with his hands on the TV stand, just sitting there watching TV. Silly monkey! I guess he climbed up using his red car. So I moved it. He then attacked the tree. So I moved the couch in front of it.
Today:
Nap
Laundry
Co pick up Tums, wrapping paper, fancy cat food
Go pick up sweetpea!!!!!

December 22, 2007
Up at 4am today! OH YAY! Poor little dude was soaked. His diaper totally leaked. (Josh didn't get it tight enough and I failed to check it before putting him down.) Changed him, nursed him, rocked him... put him in his bed and he babbled for a bit then I dosed off when he was quiet. Woke again to him babbling at quarter to 6. Babbled a bit more then I didn't hear him again until 7.
Changed a poopy diaper and we came downstairs and swept all the floors, washed our hands, and now we're having breakfast.
~~
7pm
I *think* he's finally asleep. I took the diapers down to soak and when I came up, he was crying. I started up the stairs, but he stopped half way up, mid-cry. I could hear his breathing, so I think he finally closed his eyes for a second and passed out.
No naps this afternoon. What a cranky, screaming beastie he was!!! He wanted to be asleep, it was obvious, but he wouldn't go on his own, wouldn't rock down or sing or even nurse. Stumbled around for a while then we had an earlier than usual supper, cleaned up all his toys, watched "Caterpillar" (we watched the Going To Bed Book" earlier this afternoon, had a very long bath, then ended up in bed about 15 minutes earlier than usual. He better sleep tonight!
I have a headache and am very sleepy. Gonna get a few prezzies wrapped and head up to bed soon myself...
I was checking flight info online. I couldn't find a matching flight from into our airport... I know there are several companies and I only checked a few, so hopefully that's why I can't find yours.
See you soon!!!!!

Another 5 am day yesterday. I even put him to bed 30 minutes later the night before, but no luck. I nursed him and then was able to dose off while he babbled, though, so I got maybe an extra half hour. He finally started yelling at 6:30 so I had to go get him again.
Had breakfast - bananas and cheerios, I think. I put the diapers in to wash. We watched TV.
He was a cranky bear by 8:30, even though I wanted to to keep awake longer so that he'd have a more normal nap. But nope. So up we went around 8:45. Had a change. And then he lost his mind. Complete melt down, wouldn't nurse, wouldn't let me put him down, but it was plain to see he was exhausted. It took several tries, but I finally got him to pass out in my arms and stay asleep when I put him down. I came back downstairs to have an apple as I was feeling gross. It came back up. I ate a granola bar and went to bed.
We both got up around 11:30. I had a shower - pure heaven, since I didn't get one the day before. We came downstairs to play and eventually had some french toast for lunch. We went next door to take care of Motor. Came home and I decided to tackle the dishes. Did 2 more loads of laundry. The lady with all the baby clothes came back with another bag for me to go through. Played more. Nursed him for only the second time, but started feeling icky again. Threw up quite spectacularly, while fumbling for the remote so Elliot could watch some TV. Still felt crappy, but ate some pickles as they seemed to helped the day before. Felt even worse. Debated calling someone. Started crying. Called M. She came over to find me laying on the floor and Elliot diving back and forth over me, laughing hysterically.
She gave him supper while I bolted upstairs to puke again. (Ugh, pickles.) Came back down and drank half a litre of milk and some smiles and felt much better. Milk was a big, big thing for me yesterday. Nearly the whole litre gone. Have to buy more today!
She folded laundry while we watched The Going to Bed movie, and then brought Elliot upstairs and read to him while I got the tub ready. Kept me company while I bathed him. I should have asked her to do it while I went for a walk around the block or something, but I was feeling ok. Nursed him and put him to bed while she made us tea and put away the dishes. Then we curled up in the living room and watched the finale of Lost, since she'd fallen asleep while watching it when it aired. The new season starts Jan. 31. YAY!
Then we watched several episodes of Video on Trial and chatted. Somewhere in there, I made a grilled cheese sandwich and had more milk. M left around 10:30, after she shoveled our sidewalk... such a sweetheart. I have no idea how to thank her for all that she's done. Maybe a spa gift certificate? I've already told her that we'd like to take her and hubs out for supper when you're back.
Elliot slept well last night. He didn't get up until nearly 6!!!! I let him play for an hour before he yelled for me. I went in and had to change him - I think it may have been the largest poop of his life. And so mushy! Eeeeew. Nursed him around 7 and we came downstairs. I gave him a sippy of milk, which he downed. Makes me think that my supply is pretty crappy and not enough for him. Just finished breakfast of bananas and oatmeal. And more milk for me, of course. Nearly out now!!
Feeling MUCH better today. No nausea yet. Hopefully the 3-4 day cycle continues - I've been having shit days that turn great, then gradually get worse again. Hmmmm... that puts me at a shit day on Sunday. Oh well!
On the agenda for today:
Nap when he naps
Elliot won't leave the tree alone. Don't know what to do about that one!!!!
Ok, gotta go sweep up all the tree needles.

Melon's appointment went well. The initial exam showed nothing wrong - she scored high on the appearance meter, I guess. She weighs 9.6 lbs, which isn't a concern. She does have a fractured tooth, which could be infected and causing her pain. They want to put her under and do x-rays. $$$
What we did do was draw blood and urine samples. I had to leave the room for that part - they held her down wrapped in a towel and put needles in her. I got all teary and they wouldn't have let me touch her if I was in the room anyway. Elliot played with Emilie in the waiting room the whole time. He loved the clinic cat (Magic) and seeing all the other animals come in.
So, with the exam, blood work, urinalysis and the worm pills I got for both cats, it cost $428. YIKES! They said they'd call with the results this afternoon. Melon is VERY glad to be home. She was so good. Growled a few times during the exam, but never bit or lashed out.
~~
7:30pm
Clean bill of health!!!!!!!!!
Vet called. Blood work and urinalysis came back normal. He wants to put her on medicine for 2 weeks which will help her stomach to empty into the intestines properly and help with nausea. But before that, we're going to try a stool softener - he was impressed by the amount of stool in her (I guess he could feel it during the exam???) and he thinks that maybe she's constipated.
Sounds like we can wait on the dental x-rays for now, since there was no sign of infection in her blood.
*big sigh of relief*

First appointment with the baby doctor today! I got called in right away - I was in the loo leaving a sample, actually. Was in the office for nearly an hour. She took my history again (mostly was able to copy from last time!) And she weighed me - 149 lbs.
She tells me it's now strongly encouraged for preggers women (at any stage of the pregnancy) to get the flu shot. I've never had one before and don't really want to, but told her I'd think about it. She didn't pressure me, but said that it was a good idea to have it. And one for Elliot as well. Not sure how I feel about it.
She was also surprised that I'm still nursing and said it's recommended to stop. I told her I'd researched it and was comfortable continuing, but she said that it couldn't be determined how many nutrients were going to the developing baby (and to myself) if I was nauseous and throwing up AND nursing a toddler, even if it's only 3-4 times per day. She's also a bit concerned because I've lost 10 lbs so far... of course she won't truly be concerned until/unless I lose more by the next appointment. Which I don't think is going to happen... but we'll see. I'm sure that if I've lost more weight by the next one and am still nursing, she won't be impressed.
But otherwise, a good appointment. No dating ultrasound, but she said we'd just go with my last period date for now and if the 20 week scan shows a smaller baby, then we'll assume I did ovulate late and push back the due date. As of now, I'm due July 19th. (The Fertility Friend software says the 17th. It had also calculated Elliot's due date as Sept. 18 and she said Sept 16th... I think there's a leap year coming up which is throwing off the dates a bit. Oh well...close enough!)
We tried to listen for the heart beat, but we both knew it was really early. We did hear placental sounds, so that's encouraging! My next appt is mid Jan, so we'll be able to hear something then for sure. And hopefully you can come, too!
Then we went to the library and to Woozles and then for sushi. (Elliot ate 3 veggie rolls. Including the seaweed on 2 of them!!) And then to Starbucks. Elliot fell asleep in the stroller after lunch (around 12:30, I think) and slept until I got home just before 2. Good boy!

What a good sleeper Elliot was last night! He cried a bit around 2, but just needed his soother. Then he woke to nurse at 5:45 and went back to sleep until 8!!!!!
Changed and came downstairs. He played for a bit, then ate a whole banana while watching Poko. He's watching the end of Lunar Jim right now.
School's are canceled here. Most of the snow washed away (there's still a good 3 inches of it everywhere) but I guess it's really icy out there. I'm glad I shoveled last night.
Nothing on the agenda for today. Maybe venture out this afternoon, I need some antacids. (Heartburn was wicked awful last night.) And it would be nice to get out of the house a bit. Maybe go tot he mall if it's not too cold/icy.
When I got up to give him his soother last night, all I could hear was water dripping and splashing. Not a good sound to hear in the middle of the night! Turns out the space between the screen and the window in our room was completely full of water! The wind was driving the rain right through the screen and there was a little lake happening! I put a towel on the sill, but only a little bit seeped under - thank god!!!
So, I made an appointment for Melon at the vet's on Wednesday morning. Trying to wrangle a ride there, or a sitter for Elliot so I can cab down for the 20 minute appointment. Poor Melon - she's throwing up again and losing weight and looking sickly. I think this may be the start of her decline. Ugh. I hate paying vet bills, but I think it's necessary this time. It's only a check up, so I imagine they'll book her for a diagnostic appointment after that. Poor thing! Gonna get pricey, I bet. Merry Christmas, Melon!!!
When you get back, we should take Bailey in, too. Have her shaved. Poor thing!

7:45
Feeling pukey tonight. Ulp. Just ate, but not confident it will stay put. Bummer, not sure what else there is for supper in the house!
Well, Elliot went crazy today. I tried to put him down for a nap a little after 11. He freaked out. Did not want to be in his room. Did not want to be nursed. Did not. Did not. Did not. So I tried nursing him in our bed. He nursed, but still wouldn't sleep. So downstairs we came. He looked exhausted. Super whiny. Stumbling. Tiny bumps sent him screaming. Gave him some lunch. Let him watch TV. Tried again at 1. Screamed! Forced Motrin into him. Tried nursing in our room - small success, but still freaked out. Held him in the hallway. Held him while standing up in his room. Dumped him in his crib and walked away. Went back and rocked him more. Finally, he passed out mid-tantrum in my arms. Held him for a bit longer then put him into bed. This was going on 1:30. He slept until 3:45.
While he was out, I had a mini nap on the couch.
He was in a much better and playful mood when he woke up. He is obsessed with the Christmas tree, though. Loves to pull lights off of it. So that's fun. I took some cute pictures of him in his toy box that I'll get off the camera at some point.
Had supper. Nice bath. Nursed and went to sleep like a real boy.

Little mister is not napping today.
Last night was rough-ish. He woke at 11 and I couldn't find his soothers. I gave him that self-closing fish one and he laid back down while I ran downstairs to get the backup. He went back to sleep after that. Up again just before 4 and demanded milk. Slept until 6, but I was able to rock him back to sleep until 6:30. Then he was up for the day. Hung out in our bed for a bit, then a change and downstairs. Breakfast and TV while I got us ready for errands. Left the house by 9:30, he was asleep by the end of Beech. Woke as we arrived at Dr. Baillie's office a bit after 10.
Freezing cold today - minus 19 with the windchill (-12 on it's own). Had him in his snowsuit with a fleece blanket wrapped around him stuffed inside the Bundle Me with the microwave bag under his feet and the wind cover on.
Went to Starbucks after our appointment. Such a sense of humour our child has. We sat there and shared banana bread and I had a chai latte. Almost everytime they made a drink, they had to clear the steam out of the machines. It was a loud trumpeting noise that sounded like an elephant. When it would go off, Elliot would jump and gasp in discovery and then we'd laugh and he'd puff up his lips and try to make the noise back.
Left and picked up a few things at the grocery store on the way home. Stopped for more cat food. Went and bought a Christmas tree - but left it there to pick up later as I couldn't carry it home along with the stroller and the cat food.
Got home, had lunch. Tried for a nap around 1:45. No such luck. He played/yelled in his crib for about half an hour. I had a shower then went back in. He made the sign for milk but when I lifted my shirt, he pushed it away!!!!! Rocked and sang to him for a bit, but there was no sleep. Came downstairs and he's watching TV right now - an episode of Backyardigan's and now The Big Comfy Couch. Might try for a nap after this, but might just pack him up and go drag home that tree (It's very tiny - so cute! Maybe 3 feet tall, perfect for on top of the table. Will have to go locate the tree stand, but the trunk is so tiny, I don't know if it will fit. We'll see!)
K is coming over tonight. She's bringing supper, so should be a pleasant evening...

9:15
Tried to put Elliot down for a nap around 3:30 - he had put his head down on the couch and looked super sleepy. Again with the screaming and pushing away my breast. I took him into our room and laid down with him. He nursed and fell asleep, finally, around 3:50. We both dozed until 4:45! Boy, he did not like being woken up. He was fine upstairs, but threw a fit once we came downstairs. He started pulling on his highchair, so I asked if he was hungry and he seemed to be, so I gave him a piece of cheese. He screamed and threw it on the floor. So we tried a cookie. Same response. I tried yogurt - slappy hand made an appearance. I finally just rocked him and gave him his soother. Held him for a good 15 minutes, then put the TV on for him until he cheered up.
Then we loaded up just before 6 and went to pick up the tree. It's so cute! It's actually almost as tall as I am, but it's not a thick, full tree, so it looks smaller. I'm very happy with it. It weighs less than Elliot, so I was able to get it home partly by carrying it under my arm and partly by resting it on top of the stroller.
K arrived just as we were getting home. I brought Elliot and then the stroller and the tree in while K watched Elliot. The tree is in the basement sink, defrosting, right now. I went searching for the tree stand, but couldn't see it anywhere.
Elliot had supper around 6:30. He played until 7, then we went up for a soapy bath. Read a book and nursed and he surprised me by going right to sleep! Haven't heard a peep out of him.

December 12, 2007
Well, last night was long. And so was today.
Elliot woke at 1:39am with a very demanding cry. I went in, gave him some water, his soother, then rocked him because he wouldn't lay down. I was feeling very crappy, so I put him down and tip-toed downstairs for an apple and some water. I was downstairs until 2:15. Quietly came upstairs. Crawled back into bed. Within 15 minutes, he was crying again. More water. More soother. Checked his front - diaper hadn't leaked. He laid down again and I went to throw up. Went back to bed. Crying again. This time, I let him cry for a few minutes, then went to check on him. Gave him his soother. Left. He cried for a few minutes then was quiet. Then started up again. I went to check on him and his socks were off. Picked him up. Sat down to put his socks on. Noticed one was very wet - had he been chewing on it? Nope, it was pee. Checked his diaper again - it had leaked down instead of up like usual. Poor boy was cold and wet and I was letting him cry.
Turned on the lamp, changed his diaper. Changed his clothes. He cried. Started rocking him again, he snuggled in close but wasn't settling. It was nearing 3:30, so I asked "Would you like some milk?" He sat bolt upright, pulled out his soother and started babbling. Nursed him, he fell asleep. I made it back into bed around 3:45.
We both slept until 8:30. Got up, nursed, changed, we both got dressed. Had breakfast (bananas and cheerios for him, toast with cream cheese and jam for me). He watched a bit of Poko while I was getting things ready - it was Skater Ted! I recorded it.
It snowed over night and was calling for freezing rain today. We had errands to run and I had to go downtown. Decided to load him up and have him wait in the stroller outside while I shoveled. Looked outside - the sidewalk, driveway to the street and up to our bottom step were completely clear. Snow shovel fairy! No note. Who knows... but greatly appreciated!!!!!
Quickly cleared the steps and put down ice. Set off in the rain - Elliot totally cozy in the Bundle Me and the rain shield. Me in my big purple rain coat and winter boots. Made it to the library mostly dry. Returned my book and picked up my hold. Stopped to the shoe store to let him run around as he'd been in the stroller for an hour (slow going on the slushy sidewalks). Went to Pete's for some yogurt. Came home.
Little dude fell asleep in the stroller at the bottom of the street - slept for about 5 minutes until we got home. Wouldn't go back to sleep. Pooped, had some yogurt and nursed and tried again. No go. Back downstairs. Had some lunch - chicken quesadillas - and then he played for a bit. Finally, around 2, he fell down and hurt his hand but was laughing and crying. Upstairs we went. He finally fell asleep!
I went to class, had a brief interview with the general manager of H&R Block - they called it an interview, but it was really a "here's when you start" conversation. I have the job if want it and start training on January 5th (nights). So we'll see how this works.
Got my Completion Certificate. Not sure what my class average is, but it's in the 90s. I got a 92 on the final exam. I'm pleased! Got home around 6:30. Put salt on the very slippery driveway. He nursed well at bedtime, and asked to go lay in his crib. He's been a bit restless, though, I can hear the odd mutter. Hope tonight is better!
Gonna relax for a bit in front of the TV or computer, then head to bed.
Oh bugger, now he's crying.....

The diapers in the wash go scrub scrub scrub!
Scrub scrub scrub! Scrub scrub scrub!
The diapers in the wash go scrub scrub scrub!
Until they are clean!
Yep. I think I've lost it!
Last night wasn't bad. Dream-fed him his bottle around 9:30. He woke at 4 (stupid Melon went tearing through the house crashing into containers and thundering up the stairs and into the sink. Woke me up, and probably him, since he was up about 10 minutes later.) I was quite full of milk, so I didn't argue with him long - nursed him and rocked him and put him down. He played in his bed for close to an hour. I woke up at 6:30 but didn't dare tiptoe in to make sure he was comfy as I knew that would wake him up. I closed my eyes and he started crying. I rolled over and saw that it was now 7:30!
Went in to get him. His soother was no where to be found. One sock was off. zipper down to his bellybutton. Toys everywhere. I guess he had fun until 5:30! I was pretty groggy, but changed him and we came downstairs. He pooped pretty much as we got down here. Back up we went. He lost it when I tried to put his socks back on. Flat out refused. Cried and kept pulling them off! So we're now sockless in our shoes. Silly baby!
Had breakfast - banana, cheerios, teddy heads and milk - and now he's watching TV. It's Moonbeard's Treasure on Lunar Jim. Still haven't seen Skater Ted, but we're waiting..... and waiting...
On the agenda for today:
Return a book to the library
Pick up a book at the library
Go to Pete's
Need a few groceries
Hopefully it's not bitter cold out there today. It was -9 yesterday. I'm sure it's colder where you are, but ugh... me no likey.

8pm
Ugh. I loathe multi-puke days. Ulp. I was doing so well!
Elliot napped from 11-1. I slept from 11-12:30, then had a shower. He pitched a fit when he woke up because I tried to put his socks on him. Finally I let him run around upstairs in just a onesie and a shirt. His little legs are so cute, I just want to bite them. Anyway, I finally made him let me change his wet onsie, put on a new one, baby legs and pants, but he still balked at socks. (I checked his toes & feet for sores, but couldn't see anything. I guess he just decided this was the power struggle he wanted to win.) I put him back in his shoes and we went downstairs for lunch (rice & veggies & scrambled eggs with cheese.)
He played for a bit and then we packed up to go outside. He let me put his socks and warm shoes on this time! He cried a bit when I put him in the Bundle Me in the stroller, but seemed ok once we got outside. Went for some groceries. Didn't make it downtown, which sucks and means I have to go tomorrow. It's supposed to be warmer, but it's also supposed to be a mix of rain and snow all day.
Came home, laid on the couch, had supper (chicken & rice & veggies & pasta with cheese) had a bath and he went right to bed.
I'm sitting here eating raisin bran, feeling like crap. Gonna go to bed before too long myself!
Ugh. Too many things that need to be done for tomorrow. Ugh.

As I turned out my light last night, he started crying. And it just kept escalating, so I went in. He was very upset. I think his belly hurt - he kept trying to get away from himself, almost. I rocked him and rubbed his tummy. Gave him some Tylenol in case it was his teeth. Rocked him more. Did reiki on his back & belly - that's when he finally relaxed and fell asleep. I sang to him for quite a while then put him down in his bed, asleep.
I got up at 2 and had to pee very badly.
Elliot woke up at 4:30. I tried giving him water and his soother, but that was a no go, so I nursed him and put him down. He cried. I soother him a bit more in his crib, said good night, and went back to bed. He screamed for a minute, then whined, then was quiet. Around 5:30, I snuck back in and covered him up. We both slept until 8.
Came downstairs, had bananas and oatmeal with raisins for breakfast then he watched TV while I did the dishes. Played until 11, then he started to lose his mind so up we went for a change, milk and a nap. While he slept, I showered, did 2 loads of laundry, watched TV, and played on the computer. He woke at 2:15 - a 3 hours nap, good boy!
Had lunch - apple slices with cream cheese and peanut butter (not together), avocado, cheese, rice cracker, milk & water - and now he's playing. I just printed off my resume and finished the application for H&R Block. I think they wanted it turned in last week, so we'll see if this hurts my chances.
Haven't looked at my book, but the exam is tonight! I feel good about it, though!

December 9, 2007
Yesterday was a complete write-off. Totally sucked. Little dude was not into independent play. Wasn't into eating. Wasn't into anything but watching TV or having me hold him. And I was sick and tired and nauseous and cranky and just wanted a few minutes of me time. We compromised - he watched TV while I lay on the couch for an hour in the afternoon. He would demand to come lay down with me, be content there for 30 seconds, wiggle off and repeat the whole thing.
I had tried to go out for a walk around 2, but he cried so much when I put him in the stroller that I pulled him out and stripped off all our outside clothes. He stumbled around, whining. Finally, around 4:30 I gave him some tylenol. I tried to teach him the sign for 'medicine', but it's too close to his sign for 'more'. (Medicine is one hand out flat, palm up and the index finger of the other hand traces a circle on the palm. I tried signing it, saying 'medicine' as I gave it to him, but he just started signing 'more' and cried when I put it away. I tried signing "more medicine" to show him the difference but it was a lost cause. I also gave him his soother - that made him so happy! He actually played a bit with his toys on his own!!
We had an early supper and bath, and he was asleep by 6:45. I went to bed at 8, but read until 9 and then fell asleep.
He woke at 4:20 and couldn't be persuaded to sleep again without milk, so I nursed him. Boy, the sounds of glee he made when I offered him milk were funny! He's stopped signing for milk in the night, which makes me both happy and sad. He babbled to himself for a while after I put him back in bed. Around 6, I tiptoed in and put his blanket back on. He was up for the day 20 minutes later. I pulled him in with me for a bit, but then he got slappy and jumpy, so I changed him and we came downstairs.
Pears and scrambled eggs for breakfast, then he watched TV while I put out the Christmas decorations. Went up to have a shower a little after 9, and the little bugger discovered a new game - lets pitch all the books over the baby gate and down the stairs! Oh, he had great fun with that. But I got a shower, which was heaven, especially since I didn't have one yesterday.
Put him down for a nap around 9:30. It's 11:30 now and he's still asleep! Hopefully we can make it out for a walk after lunch. We've been cooped up in the house for too long now.
Ugh. Well, I suppose I should send the signed quote back to the cheap roofers so they'll come fix our chimney at some point, right? they pissed me off and I spaced on sending it back to them right away. The note they had attached to it said to contact them right away so they could fit us in this year. I called them and there was no answer - and no answering machine - so I sent an email. I got a very snarky response back saying there was always voice mail and what time did I call, anyway? (During business hours, I checked.) And that I needed to mail them the signed contract in order for them to put us on the list. So I fumed and put it aside. Well, it's still sitting on my desk. Not good, huh.

December 5, 2007
Little bugger was restless last night. He cried at 11 and 3ish and 6:30. I gave him his soother the first 2 times and he laid down and went back to sleep. I nursed him the third time and he also went back to sleep. I woke at 7:40 and figured I'd better wake him up so his naps wouldn't mess things up today. He was shaky, but woke easily and instantly wanted to get down and play. Changed him and came downstairs, where he pooped right away. Back up we went.
He's a bit congested and was coughing through the night. I figured all his sleeping yesterday was because he was fighting a cold.
Read along with the Going to Bed Book movie you sent - he enjoyed it. It took him a bit to figure out where your voice was coming from, I think, but he kept signing more and we had to go through it a second time. Had breakfast - blueberries, strawberries, peaches on cheerios with milk - and now he's watching Poko.
On the agenda for today:
Wash diapers
MASSAGE - at 11:15 - heaven!!!!!!!
Mom wants to go shopping again, but it's -2 and I'm sure it's icy, so I'd like to stick close to home, maybe start cleaning out the guest room.
Class tonight. It's the review before the final exam on Monday.

8:30
Got home from class at 8... early night, I did all the questions and had no problems with my answers, so I was free to go!
Lets see, today was long, but ok. Elliot napped from 11-12:30, then we had lunch and went to the mall o meet up with mom's cousin. I tried to find some boots for the little dude. I finally found a great pair at Payless, but they were $30! I'll probably go back and get them, but I couldn't justify spending that much on something he's going to grow out of in a few months. Then again, that's how much Robeez cost... but he does wear those every day. *sigh*
I couldn't get over how rude people were being today. I went to Rocky Mountain to get a piece of chocolate. There was a group of women in front of the display case talking amongst themselves with a couple of staff people there too, so I went straight to the cash to the employee doing nothing and asked for what I wanted. She went to get it and then one of those women asked for something too, while she was at the case getting mine. Then that woman came over and shouldered her way in front of me (bag hitting the stroller as she slung it up to the cash). The employee came back with my chocolate (and hers) and she said "That's not mine!" only when the employee said it was mine did she move slightly to let me pay.
I couldn't even get into a couple of stores as the isles were jam packed with product and people. And I only had the umbrella stroller. People just weren't seeing Elliot (who was merrily chatting and pointing at everything). I was super frustrated. I went to get a chai latte before meeting up with mom, but Perks didn't have any soy milk. (I rarely order from them, for a variety of reasons, but that just pissed me off even more). So upstairs I went to Second Cup to get my chai.
Mom said Elliot was a good boy while I was at class, again, of course. She laughed and said that somehow she got her times all wrong and when she went to put him in bed after his bath, she saw it was only 6:20! So she got him up and brought him downstairs to play for half an hour, then took him back up, finished the bottle and he went right to sleep. He's been a bit restless since I came home, but he hasn't actually woken up - lots of movement and mutterings, though. His nose was quite runny today - thick white goopy strings and lots of clear drippy stuff.
So now I'm gonna grab a bite to eat and watch some TV then go to bed. Have plans with M tomorrow afternoon - girl's sushi & coffee, no babies allowed! Mom will be here until 3:30-4, so I'll just make sure I'm back by then. I'll probably leave just after his nap.

Holy Crow, Elliot just woke up and it's 8:40!!!!!!
He slept straight through until almost 6 and went back to sleep after I nursed him (something I didn't think he was going to do, as he was restless!) WOW! Going to let him play for a few minutes then go get him...
It's snowing here again this morning. There's a lot of slush on the sidewalks, I'll have to shovel again. Hope mom makes it over ok. Not that we'll probably go anywhere, since he'll be going down for a nap AT noon, instead of waking up then!
The house smells delicious, still, from all her baking yesterday.
Ok, gotta go get him...

Then we had supper (cheese ravioli with peas & carrots, watermelon, applesauce, milk, water) then went for a nice soapy bath and the red "Big Red Barn" and went to sleep. Such a good boy! I came downstairs, put some pasta on, started a load of laundry, took the trash out, emptied the recycling, dumped the green bin, got sick, then ate supper in front of the TV.
I'm interested to see how Elliot sleeps tonight and what the temperature of his room is. I hung a blanket over his window this morning as there was quiet a draft coming in as I nursed him at quarter to 6. When I nursed him before bed, I could feel that the blanket was cold if I touched it, but I didn't feel the draft anymore. Fingers crossed!
Mom's coming back around 8:30 tomorrow morning. She'll stay until after my class tomorrow night and then will come back the next morning. I guess that will be our routine for the week. I'm hoping to get some napping done. And to go for a massage. And to clean out the guest room. And to get some Christmas shopping & baking done. Maybe even go get a tree... planning a holiday play date with a bunch of moms & dads & kiddos here on Dec. 16 - so I should get some decorating done!
Ok... gotta sleep. Feeling yucky, so hope I CAN sleep!

What a horrible nauseous day yesterday! Dry heaves, shakes, chills, and always the nausea! We both went for a nap around 9:45. He was crying 30 minutes later, but went back to sleep on his own. I had to get up at 10:30 to dry heave some more. But then I slept until 11:30. Elliot got up just before 12. I brought him in with me and he played with the big pile of clothes in our room. Then I had a shower and we came downstairs and had lunch (the usual) and then bundled up and went to Walmart. I wanted to go downtown, but was feeling really crappy and figured Walmart was closer and therefore easier.
Got what I needed at Walmart - a Fridge Farm like Elliot has and a shirt for the birthday party tomorrow and then came home. Elliot fell asleep 10 minutes from our door. I went up and put his fleece blanket on the living room floor, then went back out to carefully ease him out of the stroller. He stayed mostly asleep until I laid him down and took off his boots, then his eyes started to open. I left him there with his soother while I went to get the stroller. As I came down the stairs, I noticed a white cat go tearing towards the backyard. Yep, that was OUR white cat. Melon the felon strikes again. I carried the stroller up and went back for the cat.
Took Elliot upstairs and nursed him and let him play in his crib while I ate an apple to try to get rid of the nausea. There was no more napping. Went back up and he had a full diaper.
~~~
Elliot was crying nearly inconsolably at midnight. I rocked him and he went back to sleep until I put him down. I gave him water and rocked him some more with the same results. I offered him medicine (flat out refused), I checked his diaper... he just wanted to be held and I was exhausted, so at 12:45 I told him I loved him and that I'd see him in the morning and I went back to bed. He did his full angry howl for just over 5 minutes, then was quiet. I checked on him at 1 and he was mostly asleep, but awake enough to know I was there and started howling again. That only lasted a couple of minutes and he was out. I got up around 4:30 to check on him - he was huddled up, with no blanket on. So I covered him up and we both slept until 6. Nursed him and he went back to sleep until 7:30.
Downstairs, put a load of laundry in, had breakfast (banana and cereal for him, fruit popsicle for me) and now he's watching a recorded Lunar Jim and stalking Melon and I'm trying to eat some toast.
8pm
Elliot woke up just after 12, so we were ready when our ride picked us up. Installing the carseat was a snap - I was worried she'd have an older car or something, but it had both the LATCH and Tether systems. She's an older lady, probably early 60s, and has had eye surgery and had forgotten her special sunglasses, but we made it out there without incident. It was snowing a bit, but overcast, so she was ok without the glasses. The forecast called for mostly sun with scattered flurries not amounting to anything, but by time we got out there, there were squalls all over the place and the ground was covered lightly. Within an hour, people were arriving saying that the roads were terrible and that they wished they'd not made the trip.
Elliot had a great time with all the kids. And mostly well behaved, too. He went around randomly kissing and hugging people and furniture. (Including big pictures of teddy bears on the wall - the theme was teddy bear picnic). SO adorable! As the afternoon went on, he got more tired and his hugs got more grabby and aggressive. There were tears and shrieks, but no one was seriously hurt. (He did somehow draw a speck of blood on one girl's cheek with his nail - I cut them this morning, but must have missed an edge.)
Our lady was hesitant to drive back into the city, but I reassured her that we weren't on a schedule and could wait it out as long as she wanted. In the end, someone named else (a brother or cousin or other in-law) drove us all back. I'm very glad he did, as the roads to the highway were horrible - lots of corners and hills and everything was ice-covered. There was a close call going down a hill with a bunch of trees and a river straight ahead. But he geared down and the automatic breaks kicked in and we stayed on the road. I shudder to think what might have happened if someone else was driving. I hope that everyone else made it home ok.
Elliot fell asleep in the car for about 20 minutes. He woke up as I carried the seat up the front steps. We got in around 5:30 and so he played for a while, then I got supper ready. (Avocado, peas, corn, chicken/tofu/veggie soup, watermelon, applesauce, milk and water.) Then a bath and milk and bed. He didn't fall asleep right away (not surprising, considering the nap) but he was acting so tired both before and during supper that I kept him on his normal schedule. He started wailing about 10 minutes after I put him down. He's cry, then be silent for a few minutes. Finally, he pitched his soother. I gave him a few minutes as I was busy soaking the diapers, tidying the house and starting some pasta for my supper.
I went up to give him back his soother and hugged him while he was still in his bed. I laid him down but he was instantly on his feet, shrieking. I hugged him again and told him I'd be right back. Came downstairs, finished cooking the pasta. This took maybe 5 minutes. He howled, but started to calm down. When I went back up, I gave him his soother and hugged him, then he pretty much laid down on his own. I rubbed his back and covered him with his blanket. Up he popped and we did it again. And again. But the third time, he fell asleep as he hit the mattress, so I came downstairs, dished out my pasta and sat down to type this all out.
November 27, 2007
Well, last night was interesting, to say the least. Elliot woke at 11:50 and wanted milk. I said no. He cried. I went and got him some water, which he drank a bit of. I rocked him until he was calm and put him down around 12:20. He was quiet for about half an hour, then started crying again. Again, he wanted milk but I offered water and he cried, but drank it. Rocked him until he was calm, put him down around 1. Quiet for 30 minutes or so and crying again. (Each time, I let him cry for 3-4 minutes to see if he'd settle on his own - no such luck.) I again told him that milk was all gone but that there was water. He was pretty tired by now and within 15 minutes, he was in a deep sleep in my arms. Put him in bed, fell asleep myself and he slept until almost 6:30. I nursed him then and he was very happy. I tried to get him back to sleep, but he was having none of that. He did play in his bed until 7, though. Changed him and we came downstairs.
He ate a whole banana (minus 2 small bites for me) and a bowl of cheerios & milk. I had some grapes and laid down on the couch. Then had some toast and laid down on the couch. Then I had a bowl of cereal and laid down on the couch. So far, no nausea! YAY!
It's rainy & windy here today, but if it calms down, we're supposed to go for a walk with M & S. And K is coming over for a sleepover again tonight. Hopefully the boy behaves!
Trying to keep him awake for another hour, but I think my chances of that are slim. We're both very tired.
~~
7:30
We both went down for a nap at 10. I slept until 11:30, then lazed in bed until noon and went for a shower. Elliot got up just before 12:30. We had lunch (avocado, cheese, rice cake, milk, water, yogurt) then went to Tim Horton's because I desperately wanted their turkey bacon club with honey mustard sauce. (YUM!!!) Then we headed over for our playdate.
The kids had a rough start - Elliot doing his death grip loving and S pin-wheeling her arms and shrieking when he touched her toys. But after a bit, they were playing nicely together. We'd set up a kiddy tent for them and put pillows and blankets and snacks in there. They had a blast!
We left a little after 3 and went for some groceries, and got home just before 4. Elliot filled his diaper as soon as we got in the house. Then we played and I ate wheat thins with cream cheese (another YUM!) At one point, he was very quiet, so I snuck over to the couch and just watched him. He was playing with blocks, then reading books, then finding cars... he didn't see me the whole time. He found his bus and firetruck and took off (a slippery mess to get out of, books and toys everywhere!) He went straight to my chair at the computer, but I wasn't there. He wandered out into the kitchen and started to babble a bit. He came down the hall and back into the living room... finally he saw me on the couch and came running over with the bus and firetruck to show me!
Then we cleaned up all the toys and waited for K to get here, and she arrived at 6. We had supper - peas, rice, chicken/tofu/veggie soup, water, grapes, melon & applesauce. Then it was bath time. K came up with us to chat and hang out.
He had great fun filling his blue & red boat with water then standing up and letting it all run back out. Then he squatted down to fill it up again and didn't come back up - sure enough, he started to poop! I scooped him up and sat him on the toilet, but noticed too late that it had already all come out in the tub. And that he still had his water-logged boat in his hands. K sopped up the water with a towel and we let him hang out on the toilet for a bit (note to self - get seat insert so he doesn't fall in). Then I held him at the head of the tub while K, bless her heart, scooped out the turds with the container and then we picked up all the toys and drained the tub (with Elliot still in it.) Then I rinsed out the tub and filled it again to finish the bath. (I hadn't soaped him yet.) He pulled the plug before I could completely rinse him off, so I used the shower part to spray him down - he LOVED that!!! Totally fascinated!
Then we curled up on our bed and read a book - Blue Hat, Green Hat - and I nursed him while K came downstairs to start the supper (pizza) and do dishes. I dropped his soother just as I was trying to put it in his mouth and it hit the floor with a crash. So I got the spare and nursed him a bit more, because of course he was instantly awake. I rocked him and he closed his eyes and was out. Put him in bed and eased my way out. Cleaned up the bathroom a bit (will have to disinfect the tub & toys again tomorrow) and then remembered I should air out the guest room for K - another loud noise when I pushed open the door. But he stayed asleep and we haven't heard a peep out of him yet!!
I'm super tired today. Been winning the fight with the nausea, but I 'm sure that's just for today. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day!
Ok, gonna have some food & conversation and go to bed...
November 26, 2007
Elliot was super restless last night. He was up twice before I went to bed at 10 (and wanted to be nursed then, too!). And up again at 1:45. (I was nauseous so came downstairs for a sliced up apple) And then at 2:38 (needed to be nursed that time). Then up for the day (and demanding milk again) just after 5. I tried everything to get him back to sleep - rocking, singing, nursing, CIO... Finally I changed him around 5:30 and started over - he dosed for 10 minutes then I brought him in with me. He twitched and fussed and pinched and slapped and rolled and kicked until 6:30 - we came downstairs to get a sippy cup of milk and cuddled in your big chair. That lasted a few minutes, then he wanted to play.
Had breakfast around 7:30 - pears and oatmeal with raisins. I had to stop mid-way to puke. Felt immensely better afterwards, though! We both went down for a nap at 8:30. I got up around 10:15, but laid in bed until almost 11, then got up and had a shower. Came downstairs, put the diapers in the wash, had some cereal. Elliot got up at 11:40. We've been playing and dancing and climbing on chairs and computing.
Just finished lunch - cheese, avocado, melon, milk, yogurt, cheerios, & water for Elliot, toast with cheese and melon for me...
Morning!
Got to sleep by 11, I think. Elliot woke me at 1:45, but when I got into his room, he'd found his soother and was deeply asleep again. Good boy! Then he was up to nurse at 4:15 and was asleep pretty quickly. I heard him cry out again around 6, but he must have found his soother again... We both got up a little after 7.
He's playing with his ball-drop toy right now, I'm fighting off the queasies, and we're about to have some breakfast. Not sure what yet - probably cheerios and milk for him and yogurt for me.
Today's agenda:
Sweep stairs
Scrub toilet & sink
Move table into livingroom and toys into dining room to prepare for Tupperware Party
Make veggie tray & dip
Oh, and where the hell is all the blueberry yogurt? I've been looking for over a week and I can't find any. Did they stop making it? Are all the other pregos craving it too and have gotten from the stores before me??? I've found blueberry Yop. I've found a few mini-yogurts. But I want a full 650g container... and there are NONE to be found! I've checked the Superstore. I've checked Pete's. I've checked Sobeys - they had a store brand blueberry yogurt that tasted like shit. That's all I want - blueberry yogurt. How hard is that???? Blech!
~~
5pm
Heard back from the yogurt people... Blueberry has been discontinued due to "production matters" at least with Danone, anyway.
Tupperware party went well. Only 3 people showed up so sales were low, but I still qualify for a 10% discount and a half price item if I want it.
I got outed, though - one woman, who I'd only met once previously, asked me how far apart the kids would be. It wasn't a huge deal to me that they knew about it, so I told her. And I made it clear that I was only 6 weeks along. But I would have liked to have kept it quiet a bit longer. I just suck at keeping it secret, I guess.
To her credit, I was wearing a maternity shirt because nothing else feels comfy right now, which defines it more and I've got that bloat thing happening, but I'd never ask someone unless I was dead certain they were. So, I guess I look obviously prego. I checked myself out in the mirror afterwards - I totally look half way through a pregnancy. Blech!
November 23, 2007
Ahhhhhhhh, home at last!
I made it to bed by 11 last night. Elliot slept well until just before 5, woke to nurse, fell back to sleep for 45 minutes then was up for the day at 5:45. Blerg!!!!!!! We raced around mom's trying to get ready in time to leave so he could have his nap. Kept him up until just 10 when we finished loading the car, packed him in and he was asleep within 10 minutes. But he only slept for 1.5 hours, the bugger.
We stopped for lunch on the way up. Had a bit of gross chicken and fries and ate half of mom's fish & chips. Elliot had a grilled cheese sandwich, and some yogurt I brought with us. Made it back home by 2pm. Elliot was so thrilled to be home!!!! He ran from room to room whooping and babbling.
The house smelled funky - sour milk in the recycling bin and someone cleaned the cat litter and put it in the downstairs garbage can. So I opened windows and lit my scented candle in the kitchen. Elliot ran from the dining room window to the living room window, giving them a good 'what for'.
Elliot had a good supper - pasta & sauce, sweet potato, milk, water, applesauce - and then we went up for a bath. We read "Hungry Little Caterpillar" and he nursed and fell asleep instantly. I came downstairs, made myself some pasta with cheese, pepper and butter.
Now I'm gonna curl up and watch the shows that taped all week and head to bed. SO TIRED!!!!!!!!!!
I made it to bed by 11 last night. Elliot slept well until just before 5, woke to nurse, fell back to sleep for 45 minutes then was up for the day at 5:45. Blerg!!!!!!! We raced around mom's trying to get ready in time to leave so he could have his nap. Kept him up until just 10 when we finished loading the car, packed him in and he was asleep within 10 minutes. But he only slept for 1.5 hours, the bugger.
We stopped for lunch on the way up. Had a bit of gross chicken and fries and ate half of mom's fish & chips. Elliot had a grilled cheese sandwich, and some yogurt I brought with us. Made it back home by 2pm. Elliot was so thrilled to be home!!!! He ran from room to room whooping and babbling.
The house smelled funky - sour milk in the recycling bin and someone cleaned the cat litter and put it in the downstairs garbage can. So I opened windows and lit my scented candle in the kitchen. Elliot ran from the dining room window to the living room window, giving them a good 'what for'.
November 21, 2007
I had to dose him with Motrin, but he slept well last night. I got to bed a little after 11 but must have laid there for at least 30 minutes before I could sleep. Elliot was up at 3 for an hour though, little bugger. But we both slept in until 7:30. Mom snuck into get him, but I had to get up and change & nurse him anyway. Then J wanted help studying for a French test so I didn't get to go back to bed. Hung out here and we both went down for a nap around 10:45. I slept for 45 minutes, he napped for almost 1.5 hours. Then we packed up and headed out to have lunch at my grandmother's.
Big yummy lunch - chicken dinner and many pies for dessert. Elliot was good - his usual non-stop ball of energy, of course. We left there around 3:30 and drove to Dayton where me and mom both had hair appointments. Elliot fell asleep on the drive in, so mom sat in the car with him while I had a trim (pretty much the same as before, only a bit shorter). Mom brought him in when he woke up. We hung around while mom had her appointment . Then she dropped Elliot and me off at Jen's where we had a playdate with her friend & her 11 mth daughter. Elliot was his usual rough and tumble self. She handled him pretty good, but he did get a couple of digs in and made her cry.
Came back to mom's, had supper and then a bath and he went to bed around 7:20. It took 20 minutes for him to be truly asleep, though. I haven't heard him for half an hour so i guess he's out. A second molar (bottom left) really came through last night, as well as the tip of that canine. Poor little dude!
Did all my home work last night - took an hour. I emailed my instructor to check my answers, but she hasn't gotten back to me. Sucky part is that I installed the program on J's computer and I can't bring my work back with me. I have my answers written down, but will need to duplicate all of the work on my computer in the classroom. (We aren't allowed to bring discs or those mini USB drives in, either.)
Watched "Because I said So" last night - a movie about a mom who is turning 60 and her three grown daughters who are all like best friends and confide everything. Mom is worried daughter #3 will never find a man so she makes an online dating thing for her. Hilarity and mayhem ensues. I found parts of it mildly funny, but couldn't relate to anything in it. (Some of the mom's quirks were very similar to mom's, but that was all).
Only 1 more night here... then back to comfort and familiarity.
Ok, gonna do a bit more surfing online then curl up with my book and go to bed early. Need my zzzzzzzzz's. The nausea had subsided for the most part over the last 3 days until I woke up from my nap this morning. It's gone from a mild car-sick feeling to a stronger ulp-i-wanna-puke kind of thing. But it's not all the time and it's coming in waves and I haven't thrown up yet - all of which are good things!
