Well, last night was interesting, to say the least. Elliot woke at 11:50 and wanted milk. I said no. He cried. I went and got him some water, which he drank a bit of. I rocked him until he was calm and put him down around 12:20. He was quiet for about half an hour, then started crying again. Again, he wanted milk but I offered water and he cried, but drank it. Rocked him until he was calm, put him down around 1. Quiet for 30 minutes or so and crying again. (Each time, I let him cry for 3-4 minutes to see if he'd settle on his own - no such luck.) I again told him that milk was all gone but that there was water. He was pretty tired by now and within 15 minutes, he was in a deep sleep in my arms. Put him in bed, fell asleep myself and he slept until almost 6:30. I nursed him then and he was very happy. I tried to get him back to sleep, but he was having none of that. He did play in his bed until 7, though. Changed him and we came downstairs.
He ate a whole banana (minus 2 small bites for me) and a bowl of cheerios & milk. I had some grapes and laid down on the couch. Then had some toast and laid down on the couch. Then I had a bowl of cereal and laid down on the couch. So far, no nausea! YAY!
It's rainy & windy here today, but if it calms down, we're supposed to go for a walk with M & S. And K is coming over for a sleepover again tonight. Hopefully the boy behaves!
Trying to keep him awake for another hour, but I think my chances of that are slim. We're both very tired.
~~
7:30
We both went down for a nap at 10. I slept until 11:30, then lazed in bed until noon and went for a shower. Elliot got up just before 12:30. We had lunch (avocado, cheese, rice cake, milk, water, yogurt) then went to Tim Horton's because I desperately wanted their turkey bacon club with honey mustard sauce. (YUM!!!) Then we headed over for our playdate.
The kids had a rough start - Elliot doing his death grip loving and S pin-wheeling her arms and shrieking when he touched her toys. But after a bit, they were playing nicely together. We'd set up a kiddy tent for them and put pillows and blankets and snacks in there. They had a blast!
We left a little after 3 and went for some groceries, and got home just before 4. Elliot filled his diaper as soon as we got in the house. Then we played and I ate wheat thins with cream cheese (another YUM!) At one point, he was very quiet, so I snuck over to the couch and just watched him. He was playing with blocks, then reading books, then finding cars... he didn't see me the whole time. He found his bus and firetruck and took off (a slippery mess to get out of, books and toys everywhere!) He went straight to my chair at the computer, but I wasn't there. He wandered out into the kitchen and started to babble a bit. He came down the hall and back into the living room... finally he saw me on the couch and came running over with the bus and firetruck to show me!
Then we cleaned up all the toys and waited for K to get here, and she arrived at 6. We had supper - peas, rice, chicken/tofu/veggie soup, water, grapes, melon & applesauce. Then it was bath time. K came up with us to chat and hang out.
He had great fun filling his blue & red boat with water then standing up and letting it all run back out. Then he squatted down to fill it up again and didn't come back up - sure enough, he started to poop! I scooped him up and sat him on the toilet, but noticed too late that it had already all come out in the tub. And that he still had his water-logged boat in his hands. K sopped up the water with a towel and we let him hang out on the toilet for a bit (note to self - get seat insert so he doesn't fall in). Then I held him at the head of the tub while K, bless her heart, scooped out the turds with the container and then we picked up all the toys and drained the tub (with Elliot still in it.) Then I rinsed out the tub and filled it again to finish the bath. (I hadn't soaped him yet.) He pulled the plug before I could completely rinse him off, so I used the shower part to spray him down - he LOVED that!!! Totally fascinated!
Then we curled up on our bed and read a book - Blue Hat, Green Hat - and I nursed him while K came downstairs to start the supper (pizza) and do dishes. I dropped his soother just as I was trying to put it in his mouth and it hit the floor with a crash. So I got the spare and nursed him a bit more, because of course he was instantly awake. I rocked him and he closed his eyes and was out. Put him in bed and eased my way out. Cleaned up the bathroom a bit (will have to disinfect the tub & toys again tomorrow) and then remembered I should air out the guest room for K - another loud noise when I pushed open the door. But he stayed asleep and we haven't heard a peep out of him yet!!
I'm super tired today. Been winning the fight with the nausea, but I 'm sure that's just for today. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day!
Ok, gonna have some food & conversation and go to bed...

November 26, 2007
Elliot was super restless last night. He was up twice before I went to bed at 10 (and wanted to be nursed then, too!). And up again at 1:45. (I was nauseous so came downstairs for a sliced up apple) And then at 2:38 (needed to be nursed that time). Then up for the day (and demanding milk again) just after 5. I tried everything to get him back to sleep - rocking, singing, nursing, CIO... Finally I changed him around 5:30 and started over - he dosed for 10 minutes then I brought him in with me. He twitched and fussed and pinched and slapped and rolled and kicked until 6:30 - we came downstairs to get a sippy cup of milk and cuddled in your big chair. That lasted a few minutes, then he wanted to play.
Had breakfast around 7:30 - pears and oatmeal with raisins. I had to stop mid-way to puke. Felt immensely better afterwards, though! We both went down for a nap at 8:30. I got up around 10:15, but laid in bed until almost 11, then got up and had a shower. Came downstairs, put the diapers in the wash, had some cereal. Elliot got up at 11:40. We've been playing and dancing and climbing on chairs and computing.
Just finished lunch - cheese, avocado, melon, milk, yogurt, cheerios, & water for Elliot, toast with cheese and melon for me...

Morning!
Got to sleep by 11, I think. Elliot woke me at 1:45, but when I got into his room, he'd found his soother and was deeply asleep again. Good boy! Then he was up to nurse at 4:15 and was asleep pretty quickly. I heard him cry out again around 6, but he must have found his soother again... We both got up a little after 7.
He's playing with his ball-drop toy right now, I'm fighting off the queasies, and we're about to have some breakfast. Not sure what yet - probably cheerios and milk for him and yogurt for me.
Today's agenda:
Sweep stairs
Scrub toilet & sink
Move table into livingroom and toys into dining room to prepare for Tupperware Party
Make veggie tray & dip
Oh, and where the hell is all the blueberry yogurt? I've been looking for over a week and I can't find any. Did they stop making it? Are all the other pregos craving it too and have gotten from the stores before me??? I've found blueberry Yop. I've found a few mini-yogurts. But I want a full 650g container... and there are NONE to be found! I've checked the Superstore. I've checked Pete's. I've checked Sobeys - they had a store brand blueberry yogurt that tasted like shit. That's all I want - blueberry yogurt. How hard is that???? Blech!
~~
5pm
Heard back from the yogurt people... Blueberry has been discontinued due to "production matters" at least with Danone, anyway.
Tupperware party went well. Only 3 people showed up so sales were low, but I still qualify for a 10% discount and a half price item if I want it.
I got outed, though - one woman, who I'd only met once previously, asked me how far apart the kids would be. It wasn't a huge deal to me that they knew about it, so I told her. And I made it clear that I was only 6 weeks along. But I would have liked to have kept it quiet a bit longer. I just suck at keeping it secret, I guess.
To her credit, I was wearing a maternity shirt because nothing else feels comfy right now, which defines it more and I've got that bloat thing happening, but I'd never ask someone unless I was dead certain they were. So, I guess I look obviously prego. I checked myself out in the mirror afterwards - I totally look half way through a pregnancy. Blech!

November 24, 2007
I typed up Elliot's accomplishments over the last few weeks for Jay, and when I read it over, I was so proud I had to share!
-Brings his chair over to the couch when I ask, so he can watch TV in the morning.
-Says "please" and "yes" appropriately. Also, he pronounces them "ptheth" and "desh". Often, he signs more and says please, but it's usually hard to figure out what he wants more of because he does it seemingly randomly.
-Says "help" when he needs it - sounds like "hep". Usually said when he's stretched out on the floor trying to reach something under the furniture. When asked if he wants help, he responds with 'desh', sometimes 'yesh' or 'des'.
-Gives mainly closed mouth kisses, saying "mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm" the whole time.
-Opening doors
-Hanging off the oven door handle (scary!) It hasn't opened yet, but I'm trying to figure out how to attach the latch.
-Climbing up on chairs and other furniture.
-Doing all the actions for "If You're Happy and You Know It" and "Itsy Bitsy Spider"
-"Counting" - if you say 1...2...3...up to 10, he'll chime in and repeat you. Does this in English, French, German, and Spanish. *To clarify - he doesn't say the actual words, just grunts. But sometimes they sound remarkably close!
-Says 'bye-bye' and waves and blows kisses appropriately ('bub-bub")
-Sits forward facing in his car seat.
-Points at things and carries on very animated and passionate conversations with them. Such a babbler!!!
-Madly in love with bubbles. ("Bubbas")
-Drops things and says "uh-oh" (not all the time, but it's damn cute when he does it!!!)
My god, he's growing up!!!!!!

Ahhhhhhhh, home at last!
I made it to bed by 11 last night. Elliot slept well until just before 5, woke to nurse, fell back to sleep for 45 minutes then was up for the day at 5:45. Blerg!!!!!!! We raced around mom's trying to get ready in time to leave so he could have his nap. Kept him up until just 10 when we finished loading the car, packed him in and he was asleep within 10 minutes. But he only slept for 1.5 hours, the bugger.
We stopped for lunch on the way up. Had a bit of gross chicken and fries and ate half of mom's fish & chips. Elliot had a grilled cheese sandwich, and some yogurt I brought with us. Made it back home by 2pm. Elliot was so thrilled to be home!!!! He ran from room to room whooping and babbling.
The house smelled funky - sour milk in the recycling bin and someone cleaned the cat litter and put it in the downstairs garbage can. So I opened windows and lit my scented candle in the kitchen. Elliot ran from the dining room window to the living room window, giving them a good 'what for'.
Elliot had a good supper - pasta & sauce, sweet potato, milk, water, applesauce - and then we went up for a bath. We read "Hungry Little Caterpillar" and he nursed and fell asleep instantly. I came downstairs, made myself some pasta with cheese, pepper and butter.
Now I'm gonna curl up and watch the shows that taped all week and head to bed. SO TIRED!!!!!!!!!!

I had to dose him with Motrin, but he slept well last night. I got to bed a little after 11 but must have laid there for at least 30 minutes before I could sleep. Elliot was up at 3 for an hour though, little bugger. But we both slept in until 7:30. Mom snuck into get him, but I had to get up and change & nurse him anyway. Then J wanted help studying for a French test so I didn't get to go back to bed. Hung out here and we both went down for a nap around 10:45. I slept for 45 minutes, he napped for almost 1.5 hours. Then we packed up and headed out to have lunch at my grandmother's.
Big yummy lunch - chicken dinner and many pies for dessert. Elliot was good - his usual non-stop ball of energy, of course. We left there around 3:30 and drove to Dayton where me and mom both had hair appointments. Elliot fell asleep on the drive in, so mom sat in the car with him while I had a trim (pretty much the same as before, only a bit shorter). Mom brought him in when he woke up. We hung around while mom had her appointment . Then she dropped Elliot and me off at Jen's where we had a playdate with her friend & her 11 mth daughter. Elliot was his usual rough and tumble self. She handled him pretty good, but he did get a couple of digs in and made her cry.
Came back to mom's, had supper and then a bath and he went to bed around 7:20. It took 20 minutes for him to be truly asleep, though. I haven't heard him for half an hour so i guess he's out. A second molar (bottom left) really came through last night, as well as the tip of that canine. Poor little dude!
Did all my home work last night - took an hour. I emailed my instructor to check my answers, but she hasn't gotten back to me. Sucky part is that I installed the program on J's computer and I can't bring my work back with me. I have my answers written down, but will need to duplicate all of the work on my computer in the classroom. (We aren't allowed to bring discs or those mini USB drives in, either.)
Watched "Because I said So" last night - a movie about a mom who is turning 60 and her three grown daughters who are all like best friends and confide everything. Mom is worried daughter #3 will never find a man so she makes an online dating thing for her. Hilarity and mayhem ensues. I found parts of it mildly funny, but couldn't relate to anything in it. (Some of the mom's quirks were very similar to mom's, but that was all).
Only 1 more night here... then back to comfort and familiarity.
Ok, gonna do a bit more surfing online then curl up with my book and go to bed early. Need my zzzzzzzzz's. The nausea had subsided for the most part over the last 3 days until I woke up from my nap this morning. It's gone from a mild car-sick feeling to a stronger ulp-i-wanna-puke kind of thing. But it's not all the time and it's coming in waves and I haven't thrown up yet - all of which are good things!

November 20, 2007
Just finished supper. Elliot has been crazy baby for most of the day.
Up at 6am for the day. Had breakfast then rushed out the door with mom to drop J at school then we went for coffee, then stopped at Frenchy's, then got back here to put him down for a nap at 10. He slept until 11:30 (I got to nap until 11 myself) then we played and had lunch then got dressed really warm and walked to the mall (using the umbrella stroller). I found a pair of jeans and a sweater and we walked around for a bit - I put him on all the kiddy rides (boats, buses, cars, merry-go-round) and let him play, even though I had no coins to make them go.
We were getting ready to leave and mom showed up, so we got a ride home. Before we left, we stopped into Payless Shoes for mom. I put Elliot down and he went running around the aisles. He scrambled around one corner and missed the turn - slammed right into the full length mirror. Bumped his nose - there were some tears but not bad.
Came home and he went tearing down the hall, but wasn't looking so ran right into the edge of the door frame to J's room. Lots of tears, and a big bump and a mark, even. Will be another bruise for sure. The one on the centre of his forehead from home is just healing,now he has this one right next to it.
Trying to baby proof this place is impossible. Mom and J forget doors open and I've also caught him in the garbage and with the container of Comet a few times. I finally twist tied the cupboard doors together. It's like a bandaid, but it helps. He's been telling off all his toys, really jabbering up a storm.
I'm exhausted and not sure why I came here. I'd have gotten more rest at home. But I can't complain, I guess. He's just non stop and it's so much work. Mom keeps saying "He's so busy. He doesn't stop"... umm, yeah. I know. I can see it. I'm right there with him, chasing him and putting the dirt back in the plants and moving things that people keep putting down in the way.
Letting him play for now then will put him to bed, wash some diapers and do my homework from the classes I've missed and head to bed myself. Mom wants to curl up and watch a movie, so we'll see.

November 19, 2007
Made it to mom's by 6:30 last night. Elliot was such a good boy in the car - he didn't nap at all and only pitched a few tiny fits. We stopped about an hour away at the Tim Hortons to let him run around a bit. It was dark, he hadn't had real food since lunch, but all in all, I'm so proud of how well he traveled.
Mom knows about BabyBoo - I didn't plan to tell her but she outright asked me and I couldn't lie. She's very happy! We arrived here, dragged all our bags upstairs, and I made Elliot some supper (star pasta in tomato sauce and green beans, and some yogurt) and we had a bath and I tried to get him to sleep. It was later than usual, he was over stimulated and it was a new place, so it took a long time. I forgot to bring the white noise machine and so the second time he started screaming, I took a radio and out it on a static channel and that seemed to help. He finally fell asleep at 8:20, on my bed. I waited a few minutes then eased him into his playpen. (Borrowed from Jen's friend) and backed out of the room. I stayed up for another hour, then got myself ready for bed. As I was coming out of the bathroom, I heard a really loud buzzing sound (like a fluorescent light on the fritz) and ran to our room - the radio was going crazy! He was still asleep though, go figure! I unplugged the radio and crawled into bed. He started crying then, of course. He fell asleep on my bed again, and again, I eased him into his bed. He was a restless, noisy sleeper and was awake a few times, but found his soother and went back to sleep easily. Woke to nurse at 5 and fell asleep in my bed again. I put him back in his and he started babbling and cooing, but I *think* he was still asleep. Eventually he must have drifted off and I woke up a while later!
We got up at 7 for the day. Had pancakes and pears and cheerios & milk for breakfast. Been playing with pots & pans and cupboards and exploring. Going to go get some groceries with Jen once he's down for his nap in half and hour or so.
Funny story from last night - he pooped just before his bath and I flicked it into the toilet as usual. After his bath, I needed to rinse out the bucket mom gave me to soak the poopy diapers in. I thought I'd use the bum cloth - but it wasn't in the diaper and I couldn't find it anywhere... I think i flushed it!!!! Scary and funny.... there have been no problems with the toilet, so I guess that's a good thing!
Ok, better run. Not sure how much I'll be able to update this week... Mom's place is a baby death trap and her computer is rather crappy. Also, there's no auto-spell check and since I don't watch when I'm typing, I bet this is full of typos...
7:30
Dude is asleep! He had a nap from 10:30-12:30 this morning and I took that time to go get some groceries and coffee and lunch with Jen. We got back a few minutes after he got up - Mom was changing his diaper, and then I fed him lunch and we packed up and mom took us out to the cabin for a half hour or so. Wouldn't you know it, I ran into a snake AGAIN! Mom says she hardly ever sees them, and it's freaking NOVEMBER - don't they hibernate or something? Elliot had a blast running around outside in the leaves and dirt and trees.
Then we went to Jen's and I tried to contain him and have a manicure. We did it, but boy, it was tough. I should have napped when he did this morning - I had almost no patience left with him. Dad came to Jen's at 4 and we geared up to go for supper. Went to this little mom & pop place about 15 minutes out of town. Elliot was such a good boy. And yes, I caved and told dad about the baby, too. I suck at this!!! I'm done telling, for now. Until you're home.
Came home, fed Elliot some more supper (he had turkey and veggies at the restaurant and more veggies when we got back) and then gave him his bath and he went to sleep - not easily, but certainly not the struggle we had last night. I plugged the fan in and pointed it at the wall so it should give a more continuous white noise for him.
Gonna read a bit and head to bed myself...

November 18, 2007
We were dancing to music on the computer, I turned around to read something and when I turned back, he was STANDING UP ON THE CHAIR BEHIND ME (I was practically touching the chair, I was standing that close) and he was dancing up there! He must have climbed up using the rungs underneath, because I was in front of it so he couldn't pull himself up. Oh, this opens a whole new level of baby proofing that needs to be done! SCARY!
Ok, I went to bed by 10:30 last night. Elliot slept until 3:30, but wouldn't go back down without nursing. He was up at 6:30 and he wanted to nurse AGAIN. Then we played in our room and made the bed and packed a little bit more, then we came downstairs. I started a load of laundry (diapers are going in next) and we had breakfast - banana, oatmeal, raisins, milk - and then swept the floors and played/danced and climbed on chairs. He's watching Backyardigans right now, I'm going to tackle the dishes and the diapers and put him down for a nap.
Also on the agenda - finish packing once laundry is done (everything else is packed except for our clothes to wear today and a few little items.) I also need to call M to make sure she's ok with checking in on the kitties. (I bought them more food yesterday and cleaned the litter, so all she needs to do is visit them and make sure their food/water bowls are full. Oh, and that Melon hasn't puked everywhere.) I should also call the alarm company to set up the vacation alert.
Mom should be here as Elliot wakes up from his nap. I imagine we'll have lunch and then load up. She said something about shopping, so it might be a loooooong drive home. Fingers crossed that the boy behaves!

Elliot was restless going to sleep last night. I finally dosed him with Motrin around 9 when he was awake and crying for the 3rd time in just over an hour. He was up around 2, crying, but went to sleep. Then was up to nurse at 4, then was crying again at 6 but went back to sleep. We both got up sometime after 7. Had a late breakfast - pears, cheerios & milk, and watched a bit of TV (Wilbur) and then we went upstairs so I could have a shower.
He played in the hall while I showered, then he helped me get dressed (it's really cute, he hands me my clothes or points at things and so I tell him "That's mommy's bra, it covers the milk. That's mommy's diaper - it's called underwear") Then he played more while I scrubbed the shower and started packing for our trip to mom's this week.
Just hanging out here for a bit, then Elliot will have supper and I'll do some laundry and finish packing the last few things. Mom will pick us up early afternoon tomorrow. I'm trying to convince her to wait to go back Monday morning, so he can nap in the car, but I don't think she wants to do that.
Oh, and Elliot figured out how to open the inner (French) porch door. I guess the big doors are next - time to put the special knobs on, I guess!
6:20pm
Poor dude - he's eating his supper right now (lasagna, watermelon, applesauce, juice, milk, water) but in the space of 20 minutes he fell as cut his bottom lip, then fell again and gave himself a huge blue welt on his forehead. Both times, he tripped on all the foam squares he keeps insisting on pulling out into a big pile. The second fall he pitched forward (cars in both hands) and got himself on the corner of the door (the edge, not the actual pointy corner). He was laughing within minutes each time, but there was lots of crying.

November 15, 2007
So incredibly bleary eyed this morning. It was close to 11 before I got to bed. Elliot started with his "come fix it-i don't like it" whine/cry at 3:20. Sure enough, his onesie, sleeper, sheet and mattress cover were soaked. The diaper (disposable) had gaped and he was wet and cold. He cried the whole time I changed him and the bed. (Well, by time I got to the bed he was more interested since it became a carnival ride because I didn't want to put him on the floor. ) Nursed him and he went back to sleep around 4 until 6:30. Then he babbled and played in his room until almost 7 when he started crying again. This time with a poopy diaper. Changed that, rocked him for a bit and put him back in his crib. I got to lay back down for almost 10 minutes before I heard him again. He played until 7:30 when he wanted to get out.
Now we're downstairs and about to have breakfast. He's whiny today. Gonna be fun!
~~~
12pm
Had breakfast - pears, oatmeal with raisins, milk, cheerios - and then watched Poko & Lunar Jim and headed up for a change and a nap for both of us. Got up at 11:30 and are just trudging around downstairs. Think I'll get dressed, load up and head over to the office to pick up my cheque. Maybe get a sandwich at Local Joes, even though the fridge is full of leftovers. Nah, maybe just a chai...
*yawn*
~~~
2:45
Had a snack - apple yogurt for him, lasagna for me - then headed out to get my cheque. Had a nice little visit. The potted tree in their office had lost a lot of leaves - Elliot picked them all up one by one and put them in the garbage. Then we came home, fed him more lunch - avocado, muffin, cheese, milk, water - then went to play upstairs so I could have a looooooooong shower.
~~~
10:30
Headed to bed in a few... Had a rough afternoon with the boy. Thought he broke my nose and while I was recovering he bite my leg hard enough to leave a welt. Not sure what he was on about - maybe he was bored or hungry or in pain or something.
M came by around 6, while Elliot was having his supper (chicken noodle rice veggie soup, rice, peas, watermelon, applesauce milk, water) and she puttered around the kitchen and then played with Elliot while I got his bath ready. Had a nice bath, M was there cheering him on. She gave him goodnight kisses and we read our book and had milk and went to sleep.
She tidied up downstairs and cooked me supper, then we curled up and watched Premonition and drank sparkling apple juice. We chatted and had dessert (lemon cheesecake) and then she did my dishes while I did some rearranging in the cupboards and then we tackled turning the carseat from rear-facing to forward facing - a simple procedure made very difficult by crappy diagrams in the booklet. But it's all set now, safe and secure.
To finish off yesterday... we played and cleaned up toys and had a good afternoon, even though he was a cranky bear. We had supper (lasagna, watermelon, applesauce, milk and water) and then went up to have a bath. After the water drained, he started kicking and jumping with his feet while holding on to the side of the tub - I've never seen him quite that dexterous before - and then we dried off and got into pjs. The girls arrived and came up to the bathroom while we finished getting ready. We hung out for a bit (he was giggly and cheery) and then they went downstairs and I read him a story and nursed him and he went to sleep. The girls were being rather loud downstairs, so I turned his noise machine up.
I got downstairs to find that they were contemplating taking the hinges off the cupboards because they couldn't get them open. They were suitably impressed when I showed them the Tot Locks. We made individual pizzas (I had chicken, ham, pineapple and a little bit of artichoke on mine - yum!) And then we sat around and watched a bit of the first season of Grey's Anatomy. We got L hooked, so she had to borrow the 1st & 2nd season. We talked a bit about Christmas (I guess we're hosting in mid-January and we're going to do a secret-santa couples gift exchange. Names to be drawn at a later date.)
Got to sleep by 11 last night. Elliot woke at 4:30, nursed and went back to sleep until 7. I dozed until 7:15 and then got up to change his very poopy diaper.
Came downstairs, played for a bit, had breakfast - banana, cheerio, milk and then he watched Poko and Lunar Jim.
On the agenda for today:
Trip to Pete's Frootique
Osteo Appointment
Class tonight
5pm
Just got back from a lovely afternoon out.
Elliot napped from 10:30-12:30, when I had to wake him up. Boy, was he cranky! While he was napping, I did the dishes and got his lunch ready to go. I got him up, changed him, put him in the stroller and off we went to my osteo appointment. While we waited to get in, Elliot had some yogurt. He was very good during his appointment. He keeps bubbles in his office so I blew bubbles and Elliot kept signing MORE and saying bub-bub.
Then we went to the playground. While on the swing, I stuffed cheese and avocado into his mouth. We let them run around and play on the slide and in the rocks for a bit, then we walked down to Starbucks. They have their holiday menu out now and I got a decaf soy peppermint mocha. Yummy!!!!! The kiddos ran rampant thru the shop, eating banana bread and oatcakes and making a mess. I changed Elliot in the hallway and then we packed up and headed to Pete's. Picked up stuff for supper and some yogurt for Elliot and noticed that he was asleep by time we left the store - his hat slid down over his eyes and he was out! Too cute.
Just got home, supper is in the oven (chicken, rice & veggie casserole) and the sitters should be here in about 30 minutes.
Awwww... he just handed me "My Oh My Oh Dinosaurs" and said die-sor!
Sleepy!
Class was fine. I'm pretty sure I'm taking off all next week to go down to mom's. Talked to my instructor about it tonight and she's ok with me missing it. I'll do the work down there on mom's computer and email with my instructor to get the answers.
Elliot was a good boy for everyone tonight. They said he had them in stitches again. I went up to check on him after they left and he was laying sideways in his crib on top of the blanket with his feet stuck out between the bars. I put him back into a more comfy place and he's still snoozing. Only drank half his bottle, so I'll give him a dream feed. I'm not going to pump tonight, either. I nursed him at 5 and he'll be up by 4:30 to nurse again - I can handle 12 hours.
Ok, gonna watch a few minutes of tv and go to bed. VERY SLEEPY!!!!
I'm debating whether to wean or tandem nurse. I want to do both, which isn't exactly possible. We're only nursing 3-4 times per day now - but one of those times is in the night. My supply is adequate at the moment. He takes whole milk in a sippy or bottle as well, but only in small amounts at a time (1-2 oz).
He's so rough that I'm not sure how easy it would be to nurse as this pregnancy progresses. I also am concerned how he will react to a new baby, especially one who is drinking HIS milk.
But I enjoy nursing. I don't want to loose the benefits or the closeness of it. But I can see how it will get more difficult as time passes.
I guess I should wait it out, see how my milk holds up... or I could drop that 4th nursing session (afternoon) and see how he does, gradually getting him down to twice per day (am & pm) and then waiting out the milk supply.
But what if I wean and then regret it? Re-lactation while prego can't be easy, and reintroducing it once the new baby arrives poses all kinds of other problems and questions.
*sigh*
Can someone just tell me what to do, please???
Morning.... *yawn*
I crawled into bed close to 10:30 last night. Elliot started crying at 10:45 but i was able to give him his soother and leave and he was fine. He woke me again at 4:15, so that was a nice long stretch! I nursed him (he drank lots, I was full as I didn't pump before I went to bed) and he went back to sleep right away.
He woke me again at 5:45 and I rocked him and nursed him and rocked him. He seemed to settle, but he was babbling again by 6:15. I dozed until 6:45 when he started crying. I went in his room and could very much smell the full diaper. That was more than a village!!! I don't know if they didn't put the disposable on tight enough last night or what, but I'm very surprised (but happy!) he didn't leak everywhere. It was gaping all over. I touched the tab to unfasten it and it fell open!!! It was a very heavy diaper!
Changed him, and now we're downstairs. He's playing and I'm about to fix breakfast - oatmeal, raisins, muffin, milk & juice.
On the agenda for today:
Playdate
Maybe a girls night in
Sleep. Sleep. Sleep.
Sleep.
2:30
Had a really nice playdate. There were probably 5 incidents where Elliot tackled or forcibly hugged or lunged at or kissed with teeth or climbed on his friend and she screamed, but she was never hurt, only startled and her dad was very relaxed about it. The kiddos ran circles in the house and played with everything. Elliot seems to be catching on to the idea of sharing, but it's going to be a long road.
I did a load of diapers early this morning. We watched Lunar Jim and cut his nails. He went down for a nap at 9:45. So did I. We both got up at 12 and I had a quick shower while he played in his crib. Played downstairs for a bit then had lunch - the rest of the chicken risotto from yesterday, avocado, juice, water and yogurt. Then our playdate arrived.
~~~
3:30
Felt his teeth today - the bottom left molar is throbbing. So is the canine next to it - the gum is swollen up into a hard little point. I just gave him some Motrin and tried to rock him in his room - he just sobbed. I think I realized I was trying to get him to sleep and he wanted none of it! So we're back down stairs and he's in the living room, happy as a clam!
I'm having more cramping and nausea today. I wonder what I'm in for with this pregnancy... I don't remember any symptoms starting with Elliot until after 6 weeks... eek!

Looooong day!
Elliot was up at 3:15. I nursed him back to sleep but he wouldn't stay asleep. He was babbling and playing. I tried nursing him again around4 and it seemed to settle him a bit... he finally fell silent around 4:45 and I woke up to check on him at 5:05. Then we got up together at 7:15.
While waiting for him to go to sleep, I took another test - yep, still preggers!
Got up, had breakfast (scrambled eggs and blueberry/cranberry muffins) and then got super bundled up and headed to the grocery store. (It was minus 3 here). Came home, big poop and had a nap. 45 minutes later, he was crying. i rocked him and he fell asleep again and slept for another hour and a half - he didn't get up until 1!
While he was asleep, I made lasagna.
Around 12:45, your dad came over. Last night, the living room light stopped working, so I used this opportunity to get your dad's help - we replaced the bulbs, but that wasn't the problem. We turned off the power and removed the plate and checked the wiring - that wasn't the problem. Turns out, the switch itself was faulty and broken.
Got home just before 5, put the lasagna in to bake and your dad fixed the light. All the bulbs are in it now and it's so bright in there! It's a slightly different switch - it turns on and off instead of pushing, but it still has the dimmer. They left by 5:15 and J and D showed up by 5:25.
I asked J if he could change the cat litter because I wasn't allowed - he looked at my funny and then D jumps in with "You're pregnant??!" They're both very excited. (I didn't tell anyone else, well, just M. And M. And E. And my message board girls. But everyone knows it's a secret for now.)
Went to class. Got a 90.5 on my exam - I'm pleased. The questions I guessed at, I pretty much got wrong. And a few others. This gives me a 93.3 course average so far. We started computerized stuff tonight. I'm good at it - once we finished the questions, we could leave. I was out of there by 8 and home by 8:15. Sweet!
There. That's our whole day.

Oh yes, it happened late, probably on Halloween. Silly body! But whatever, it freakin' worked! I'm still in shock. And pregnant!
Tested positive yesterday!

Went to bed at 9:30 last night. Elliot had me up for an hour at midnight - he wouldn't go back to sleep without nursing. I slept restless, but got a lot of it - I was up to check on the boy at 3 am - he had that croupy cough again. Then he was up for milk at 5am and actually fell back to sleep so I peed on another stick (positive!) and went back to bed until 7!
~~~
CRAP! i typed out the whole rest of our day and must not have hit "save", although I swear i did.... now it's all gone!!!!! BOOOOOO!!!!!
Ok... I'll do it all again.
Elliot napped from 10:30 to 12. I washed all the dishes and swept the floors. We played for a bit when he woke up then had lunch (avocado, soup, grapes, milk, water) and then played with blocks and made muffins and I rearranged our bedroom (pushed the bed over to the far wall, moved the little dresser into the guest room for now, moved the long dresser on the other side of the bed... this opened up a great play space for Elliot between the bed and the window.
My Tupperware lady came to visit - we had to go over plans for the party in 2 weeks. She took the busted green bowl with her and will replace it!!! Elliot helped me clean up all the toys and then we had supper - cheese noodles, carrots, peas, rice, milk, juice, water and applesauce. Then Elliot helped take out the recycling and green bin. Then we went up for a bath.
We washed his hair and soaped him up and afterwards put him in a cloth diaper - it's the third night and so far, so good! No leaks and he seems to be fine with the bulk. He went to sleep very well. I made myself grilled cheese sandwiches for supper and am now about to curl up on the couch and watch some tv before going to bed at another ridiculously early hour.
Oh - the movie from last night - My Super Ex Girlfriend? Not so good. Not funny, offensive to women... written for teenage boys, basically! But kinda stupidly entertaining and so i watched the whole thing. Waste of time, really.
Ugh. We've been up since 5 again today! Hopefully he'll have a good nap in another hour or so. He's watching Lunar Jim right now and then we'll have breakfast.
On the agenda for today:
Shopping at the mall
I put the diapers in to wash, we had breakfast - pear, cheerios, milk, juice, had a big poop then both went for a nap. M called at 10 to say he'd be here around noon. I got up and showered, then came down to put the diapers through again.
And, OH YEAH! did I forget to mention the positive pregnancy test at 5am!!!
I can't get any good pics of it, they come out blurry or too dark or too white or whatever. But there's very definitely a line there! It's an IC (internet cheapie) test, so i needed to dip it in a collected specimen... it can take 10-20 minutes to get the results. At the 10 minute mark, the bottom of the test area started turning pink again like it did when i first dunked it. After 10 more minutes, all the new pink had faded away, except for the second line. YAY!!!! Scary and thrilling, huh!
~~
7pm
I am soooooo tired!!!
Elliot woke up from his nap around 11. He played and then had lunch - soup, yogurt, avocado, milk, water - and then we waited for M to get here.
We were in the car by 1 and headed over the bridge. There was a lot of traffic. The bridge was moving, but it was slow. The guy 2 cars ahead of us set off the buzzer at the tolls. So he stops a couple car lengths past the gate and waited. The car ahead of us zoomed around him. He got out and started walking back to the booth. We carefully pulled out around him (there were cars streaming through on both sides!) Another car stopped in the middle of the street while trying to do a left turn. There was a HUGE line of cars waiting to go who didn't look pleased. At the lights where we turn onto that road that goes to the mall (by the ball fields) traffic was pretty much crawling. It took a long time to get to the mall. The parking lot was FULL. Sure enough, it was their tax-free midnight madness sale today. The lines were insane. We looked around, but left without buying anything. All I wanted at toysrus was a toilet guard, but the line stretch all the way back to electronics. So we left.
We came home at 3 and I tried to get a very cranky Elliot to nap - had to sing to him the whole way home! Well, of course he refused to nap so I got him back up. We went to Swiss Chalet. Elliot was a good boy, but i did have to sing to him a lot. He's really liking "If You're Happy and You Know It..." and does all the actions I can think up. I'll try to get a video tomorrow.
Oh yeah... it's also SNOWING here tonight! It started raining this afternoon and by 3 is was wispy and by 5 it was outright snowing. The roads are still clear because it's a wet snow and not at the freezing point yet. But who knows what will happen over night. The lights flickered a bit during bath time... it's not amounting to much, but there is a film of slush over everything.
We got home from supper around 5:30. Elliot played/stumbled around for about 20 minutes and I gave him a bit more supper - cheese, rice, yogurt, milk & water (he had chicken and rice noodles and french fries and cucumber sticks at SC). And then we headed up for a very early bath just after 6. He was asleep by 6:40 and I'm thinking I'll watch a bit of TV (I recorded My Super-Ex Girlfriend last night) and then I'll turn in myself. I'm very sleepy. Hopefully the boy doesn't get up too early tomorrow!!!
Well, I suppose I should finish out yesterday, huh?
Elliot had a 3 hour nap again - he woke up around 12:30. I used that time to get some laundry and cleaning done. I also made a kick-ass chicken/veggie/noodle/rice soup. Yum!
Had a playdate. Unfortunately, Elliot was having a bad tooth day and he bit his friend. I don't think he entirely meant to - he leaned in to give her a kiss and I think he took the opportunity to press his teeth into her head - it wasn't a chomp like he did last time. She shrieked and cried for quite a while and Elliot cried a bit, too. I think he realized a little what he had done. He got scolded, of course.
Went for a walk to the natural food store before supper. Elliot made lots of friends, like he usually does. I had him in the Ergo, and he kept saying 'yeah', so I'd say it back to him and we walked around like a couple of idiots.
K came over just before 6. We played for a bit then Elliot had supper (sweet potato, rice, broccoli, juice, water, applesauce) he was tired and cranky and seemed to be in pain - he didn't want to eat the sweet potato after a while. He had a massive scary coughing fit again. Threw up in his mouth a couple of times but swallowed in back down, the gross little bugger! Had an uneventful bath (until he peed as we were draining the water.) The we all curled up on our bed and red "Green Hat, Blue Hat". He fell asleep easily. (Yes, I drugged him, poor thing.)
K did the dishes while I tidied up. We put a frozen pizza in the over and ate it with salad and we split a can of coke. She gave me a back/neck/head rub while we talked about the direction her life is going. She and soon-to-be-ex have come to a bit of an agreement - they're starting to split of their assets and expenses and household items. It's still very rocky and he is still being a dick, but they seem to be making headway.
Elliot fussed around 8, but i gave him his soother and rocked him and he fell back to sleep. K and I went to bed around 9:30 (we're so old!!) and Elliot had another restless night. He was crying around 1, but was still laying down when I got in there. I put his soother in and he settled immediately. He was up again just before 4, but again, I rocked him back to sleep. That lasted about 20 minutes, though, so I brought him in and nursed him. He drank for a long time then fell asleep, so I carried him back to his bed. We all slept until 7:15 or so.
Breakfast was yummy today! Coffee for mama and K, along with scrambled eggs, pears, milk and juice. Elliot gobbled it all down! Then we said goodbye to K who had to run to catch the bus. Elliot watched Poko (He calls it Po-o) and Lunar Jim and then we played for a bit then went upstairs. He played in the hall while I had a shower and then we changed him and he went down for a nap at 10:30.
And here I am, typing it all out... :)
On the agenda for today:
Few more groceries (cranberry juice in particular)
Play date
The Movie Channel is having a free preview weekend starting at 7 tonight, so I'm excited about that.
A funny story from this morning: When I was putting Elliot down for his nap, Bailey started doing her little meowing routine. I was so mad at her, but Elliot fell asleep anyway. I could see Melon camped out in the hallway, but didn't see Bailey. I figured she had gone downstairs. I went down to start cleaning up and could still hear her through the monitor. Yep, sure enough, I had locked her in the guest room when I closed the door to Elliot-proof the hallway so I could have my shower. She was very happy to be let out!
Elliot had a 2 hour nap. I watched TV. (Should have napped, I know!) He woke up, I changed him, we came downstairs and I started getting his lunch ready. Within 5 minutes, he'd filled his diaper, so up we went again. Lunch was good - soup from yesterday, avocado, yogurt, juice and water. Then we waited for our friends to arrive.
We decided to try the double stroller, so I dragged it outside. (I got grease all over my jeans in the process, bummer!) and we loaded the kiddos in and off we went.
Had a nice afternoon at the mall. The double stroller just fits through the main doors, and larger stores like Sears and Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. We got coffee and I bought a onsie at Sears. I wanted to buy a toilet-seat baby proofing thingy, but they didn't have any. We came home and Elliot played for a while.
I was researching charting software online when Elliot started fussing. He had been playing with the curtains. He started squawking so I went to investigate. He was on his belly between the heater and the hope chest, and he was stuck - the heater valve & pipe were on one side of his neck and the fold up play car was on the other side. Luckily, the heater was only slightly warm.
Then he went into the kitchen and was playing with the rolling cart. I heard a bang and he started crying again. He'd backed himself into the pot cupboard and had pulled the cart in to himself. He scratched his forehead and bumped the back of his head on the door handle. Poor munchkin!!!
He had supper (burned freezer soup, cheese, rice, water, applesauce) and then we had a nice bath and read The Going To Bed Book. Sure enough, he started rocking back and forth as we turned to the last page, before I could even read it! He nursed ok then fell asleep.
I'm trying an experiment tonight - he's in a cloth diaper, so we'll see how that goes! I took a large Fuzzi Bunz with it's regular microfibre insert and added a thick hemp insert in the pocket. Then I put the fleece-topped hemp insert in next to his skin. It was able to snap up to the tightest setting, but it's bulky. Fingers crossed for no leaks and a restful boy!!
Elliot did a somersault today! He's been doing little head stands in his bed while waiting for me to change him, and I've taken to flipping him over onto his back that way. Today he was playing around with it in his bed and kicked his legs and over he went. Now I have to worry about him snapping his neck in there!! I guess babies are flexible for a reason...
I watched all my shows from last night today. Nothing on tonight, but I did program the DVR to record a bunch of stuff from the free Movie Network preview weekend.
Ugh. Must got to bed now. Very sleepy. Let's hope there's a positive preggers test in the morning to explain this fatigue!!!
7:34 am
Well, not AS early a start to our day today. I woke up at 3:30 (had a rather restless sleep all night, though, awake at 12, 12:45, 1, 2, 3:30...) Elliot woke at 4, just as I was drifting off again. He wasn't completely awake, so I was able to rock him back to sleep without nursing. He woke me up again at 6:15 (that was a groggy one!) and he nursed for a while and I put him back in his bed... of course, he didn't sleep. He filled his diaper and cried for me to come get him about 20 minutes later. He's taken to putting his soother on top of the dresser. When he stands at the head of his crib, he can just reach over to drop the soother down. It's cute!
When i went into check on him before i went to bed last night, i dream fed him the last 2 oz of his bottle. He still had his shoes on! I'll have to mention it to the sitters for next time...
Plans for the day:
-Coffee & playdate
-A friend is coming over to spend the night after work, so i should figure out a good supper. Still can't drink wine as the pregnancy tests are STILL negative, but no period yet, so we'll see what happens...
Elliot wants to say hello:
10:15 am
Dude is asleep, I'm doing laundry and making chicken soup. Yummy!
Forgot to mention a hilarious Melon caper from last night! I had just put him back after that 4am wake up and Melon was skulking about in the hallway. She tore downstairs, scratched at something and then raced back upstairs and plowed into the locked gate. What a racket! She made it through the opening with no damage to the involved parties, but she must have scraped through the little door fiercely on her way past. She then flew into the bathroom and hissed at Bailey. I fell asleep soon afterwards, chanting to myself: "Don't wake the boy..."
Elliot was up at 3:30 and very insistent that he would be having milk. I nursed him and he slept until just before 7. We came down stairs and played for a bit then had breakfast - half a clementine and cheerios with milk and yogurt.
On the agenda for today:
Make drs appointment
Go to Walmart for more babyproofing stuff and juice
Scrub tub and bath toys
Babyproof bathroom
Maybe a playdate
Scrub sticker adhesive off Elliot's hand - that stuff is tough!!!
I'll update more tonight...
Ok. Dude's in bed and I'm eating supper. This is how our day unfolded.
He played upstairs in the hall way while I had a shower. (I only had to get out once, dripping wet, because he went into his room and shut the door. When I got in there, he was quickly trying to pry off the (locked) lid of the diaper pail.
He went down for a nap at 10:30 then I soaked all the bath toys in bleach water and tidied up the bathroom to make it a bit more Elliot proof. He got up at 12:30, we played for a bit, then had lunch, then got geared up and went to Walmart. I bought some cabinet latches (i put all the cleaning supplies in the bathroom cupboard) and a dim night light for our room. On the walk there, we passed a fake snake half buried in leaves in a mud puddle. Eep!!
We stopped by the mall on our way home because I wanted a chai latte from Second Cup. Well, their machine was down so i couldn't get one. This made me sad.
Home we went, where Elliot demanded 'milk'. He was super fussy and whiney all day today. Every little bump was a trial and if I wasn't holding him or reading to him, he would pitch a fit. Supper was a joy! I had to drug him before bed, he was losing his mind.
We discovered today that one of his take & toss cups can draw blood if dropped from a slight distance. Poor boy - he was trying to put it up on the kitchen counter and i helped him but my hand slipped and the cup fell out of my hands and whacked him. He started screaming and i thought it might have hit his nose, but then i saw a a cut on his forehead. little blood, will probably bruise up nice tomorrow.
Had a fun bath and almost instant sleep. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that tonight is a good night. He has a drs appointment tomorrow afternoon for his cough.
*LiveJournal entries were written to Jay to keep him in the loop when he was working out west for 8 weeks.
Got home from the airport around 7:30. Elliot played for a bit and had a very messy diaper just before breakfast. He ate his usual, pears and cheerios, then he watched Play With Me, Sesame for about 20 minutes while I started the pot roast for supper in the slow cooker (there was a nice surprise in there for me, too!(chocolate, I think)) and then went down for a 3 hour nap!
I also had a nap while he slept - I dozed for maybe 45 minutes. There was another surprise under the pillow. So sweet, made me cry....
When Elliot got up, we played for a bit then had some lunch. (spaghetti & sauce, avocado, yogurt and water). Then we geared up and went to get some groceries. The walk there was nice - we stopped to look at kitties and leaves. We couldn't walk our normal way through the Superstore parking lot because the storm over the weekend caused damage to one of the apartment buildings there and a crew was cleaning it up.
Elliot wanted to help at the grocery store, so he held my hand and walked next to the stroller. He also carried the cookies! We went through the checkout and then stopped to buy a poppy from the little old lady veteran. She gave Elliot a sticker! I put it on the back of his hand and off we went. We stopped at Canadian Tire to buy a carbon monoxide alarm that plugs into the wall, but when we got into the long line at cash, we waited and waited and then the cashier said "i can't take anyone else. sorry." The people behind us were very upset. All the other lines were just as long, so we put down our stuff and left the store. I had to take Elliot's sticker off his hand as he was eating it. Some of the adhesive stayed on his hand, but he didn't seem to mind.
When we got home, Elliot wanted to play in the leaves for a little while. We came in and played with Lego and blocks and then Elliot pretended to talk to two people on the phone at the same time. Quite adorable!!!
